OUR MISSION
The missions are as followed :
To protect women artisans’ rights as workers and as women ;
To build solidarity among women ;
To run a fair trade cooperative ;
To promote and develop leadership amongst women ;
To help other women’s groups join the federation.
Our work to achieve our missions :
Set up spaces for self-empowerment programs and expression. Indeed, Tanma facilitates the organization of trainings, according to these needs (self-esteem, English, marketing, vocational training, legal support, etc). These trainings also become a safe place for them to talk about the issues and challenges they face as refugee wome. ;
Provide financial support, leading to financial freedom : we help women sell their products, we teach them how to manage stocks and money ;
Link with the customers and partners : Tanma’s role is to be a link with the local and host country communities for commercial but also networking purposes ;
Advocate for refugee and women’s rights : Tanma helps to increase the visibility and recognition of the women in the society without putting them at risk since Malaysia is not a signatory country of the 1951’s UNHCR convention relating to the Status of Refugees and the 1967 Protocol. ;
Create a safe place where women and their children can freely talk and share about their issues with one another.
